Viji Prakash, critically acclaimed dancer, choreographer, Artistic Director of the Shakti Dance Company- Los Angeles,known for her innovative and exciting choreography presents Raam Katha in the fall of 2007. Since 1997, Viji has produced and toured epic productions such as: Bhagavd Gita, Prince to Buddha, Sant Meera, and Shyma, winning rave reviews world wide. Premiering in Washington D.C., Houston, Austin, and on Oct. 29 in Los Angeles, Raam Katha is based entirely on the Sri Ram Charit Manas of Tulsi Das. Using world dance forms, Hindustani and Carnatic music, elaborate sets and costumes specially deisgned for this production the life story of the hero, Rama, from his birth to his coronation is portrayed. Raam Katha features extraordinary dancers from India, U.S.A., Indonesia, and Malaysia. |

| Raam Katha features the brilliant soloist, Mythili Prakash, who has been wining much recognition world wide for her bold and refreshing approach to Bharata Natyam. The stellar cast of dancers from around the world includes: Ajit Bhaskaran Das, Eko Suprianto, Padmini Upadyay, Soma Shekar, Ashwariya Nityananda, and Surya Rao, along with sixteen members of the Shakti Dance Company. Hindustani and Carnatic styles of Indian music integrate mellifluously in the production. The musical ensemble is led by world renowned vocalist Lakshmi Shankar; one of the most eminent vocalists in Hindustani music. Featured in the Oscar winning film- "Gandhi", Lakshmi Shankar and has won many prestigious awards for her beautiful vocals. |

| The exemplary ensemble of musicians include: K. Mahalakshmi- Nattuvangum, Debur Srivathsa- Vocals,Sarika Ravindran- Vocals, V. Vedakrishnan- Percussion, Krishna Kutty- Violin, and Mahesh Swamy- Flute and Moorsing. Sitar and Veena artists are also an integral part of the ensemble.
