shantala02262012

Shantala Subramanya, is the sister of eminent flautist Shashank. She was trained by eminent performers -vocalist Late Sri. Vairamangalam Lakshminarayanan and is currently pursuing vocal music training under Sri O.S.Thyagarajan and Sri Sriram Parasuram..

Spontaneity and sweetness marked Shantala’s flute recital. “Heard melodies are sweet; but those unheard are sweeter.” Shantala Subramaniam belied these immortal words of Keats. Her flute played on, not only to the sensual ears, but to the soul and spirit. Even while she delineated Saramathi, she could convey what the saint of Tiruvaiyaru sought to, in his divine composition. That finally is music. …….The Hindu, December 15, 2012
